SILICON CARBIDE SiC

Silicon Carbide is produced in resistance furnace, where exact mixtures of petroleum coke and siliceous sand are burnt. SIlicon Carbide arise by increasing of crystals in the core of furnace during smelting.
After cooled, furnace is disassambled, the material is sorted and according to the quality it is classified  to material suitable for production of abrasive grains and material suitable for metallurgy.
For production  of abrasive grains is used material with Silicon Carbide SiC content min. 98%.

Silicon Crabide crystals

For metallurgical purposes is used material with Silicon Carbide  SiC content min. 90%.   Silicon Crabide SiC 98% is further crushed and formed on sorting lines and classified into different types of abrasive grains. All production process is permanently checked by internal laboratory which ensures conforming to technological method and following creation of quality abrasive grains.

Silicon Carbide black is mainly used for production of abrasive tools and instruments.  Among further possibilities of usage belongs blasting by dry and wet method, production of refractory blocks, bricks, refractory cements and compacting mixtures.

In electrotechnical industry for production of insulating materials and lighting  arresters. Wonderfully is asserted  as addition to laminated and frame saws at cutting  of stone, than as filling agent to epoxy resins for increasing of rsistance against wear.

SILICON CARBIDE AND METALLURGY
ADVANTAGES OF USE OF SIC BRIQUETTES

Silicon Carbide is used in foundries in many forms and it´s usage is known for many years ago. There have been established using of Silicon Carbide in United States of Amerika before the Second World War already.  The Europe begun to use it on a large scale in 80 years.   Silicon Carbide for usage in electric furnaces is supplied mainly with content of 90% SiC in various granulations. Silicon Carbide is delivered in form of briquettes for usage in cupola furnaces.

Use of Silicon Carbide by ferro-silicon substitution in the foundry industry has the economic justification - significantly enhances the quality of cast iron. According to stoichiometric ratio the Silicon Carbide decomposes in the furnace into 70% of  free silicon Si and 30% of free carbon C. These  ingredients  are then dissolved in alloy. The fundamental difference between the use of silicon carbide and ferro-silicon is the fact that under the laws of thermodynamics, the rising temperature increases the ability of deoxidation of carbon. By contrast, deoxidation ability of ferrosilicon decreases with increasing temperature. Increased ability of deoxidation using by carbon has a significant impact on the quality of the cast iron and allows increasing the share of scrap.

SiC Briquettes

Due to the efficient use of Silicon Carbide and easy handling in both atomatic and manual dosing the Silicon Carbide is available in form of briquettes.
