sulphate, barite, is a mineral with high
content of BaSo4.
Usage
- It features high resistance on
chemicals, for its high specific gravity
are the untreated types mainly used in
boring industry as a scavenger, basic
types serves for production of barium
salts - litopon, blanc fixe etc., treated
milled and bleached types are mainly used
like a filler in production of paints,
rubbers, floorings, binders etc...

Lithopone
28-30 % |
|
|
|
|
|
Form - Fine
powder of white colour Physico-chemical
properties -
Lithopone is white pigment
compounding of ZnS and BaSO4.
Characteristics of pigment lithopone got
from ZnS thanks to its increased light
refractive index /2,37/, while BaSO4
with its index of fireproofness 1,64 acts
like a substratum.
Usage -
With
regard to very good ability to disperse,
high whiteness, optimum grains size and
also for the economic reasons
/lithopone is in comparision to titanium
dioxide and other pigments excessively
cheaper/ it is used for chromatosis of
all coat systems. Lithopone founds
important use in bindings production.
